Magnetic porch or cabinet door latch Recycled PC Parts. These are MUCH stronger than commercially available cabinet latches. You will receive two metal brackets and two magnets as in first picture.
You will need to provide small screws to mount the magnets and plates. I recommend initially using a thick double sided tape on the bracket to reduce the holding force. Make sure the screws are long enough to hold the magnet in place. See example pictures of how to use these.
I use these parts to help keep my cabinets and screen door closed. It will open with sufficient force, but it is strong enough to keep my small dog from opening the door. If you put double sided tape or something non-magnetic to increase the gap between the metal bracket and the neodymium magnets then it is easier to open.
The plates are from a 3.5 inch hard drive mount and the magnets are from inside 3.5 inch hard drives. So, this is another use for old PC parts. The plates seem to be chrome plated. The magnets are extremely strong so be careful handling them as it is easy to get pinched.
